Our work in the school system and in our own drama camps tells us that our young people are still experiencing mental health and physical deficits because of the global health emergency of COVID-19. We have noticed in our practice, and teachers have noticed as well, a decrease in practical problem-solving skills, a decrease in relationship-building skills, and a lack of physical confidence and awareness in their bodies in relation to others.

In collaboration with the Perlin Foundation for Wellbeing, Quest Theatre has developed and piloted a new program called Drama Day. The program consists of a series of drama activities and games chosen for grades kindergarten to six that target the following specific classroom wellness impacts.

  1. Creative problem solving with space to make mistakes

  2. Relationship building with dignity

  3. Physical literacy with a framework

With these objectives, a Quest Theatre artist will deliver 4 sessions* of drama activities and games to 4 scheduled classes of your choice in one day.

*A maximum of 45 minutes per class, with a maximum of 30 students/class. Two 30-minute kindergarten or EES classes may be substituted for one 45 minute session.

$350/day - Pricing for the 2024/25 School Year

Please Note:

  • This program serves schools in the Calgary and surrounding areas. Teacher Testimonials

  • "Students are free to express themselves in a fun and non-judgemental environment. Mistakes are embraced and students are encouraged not to worry about making mistakes."

    -Teacher

  • "The program benefitted all of my students. Every student had the chance to show their talents and while doing that, they had so much fun! The games were also great movement breaks and can be used in the classroom!"

    -Teacher

  • "The benefit of this program is that it provides students with opportunities to connect with their focus, creativity, and physical movements that they don't typically do in a normal school day. It allows them to connect with peers in a new way and work with new adults."

    -Teacher

  • "This program allows students of all personalities and abilities to participate. It incorporates so many valuable skills such as communication, collaboration, movement, cooperation, and using your imagination, all in fun, developmentally appropriate and engaging activities. I can see these kinds of activities to be supportive in teaching many curricular areas such as Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, as well as, social skills and role plays."

    -Teacher

  • "Our students across all the grades, and especially our grade 5s, came out of one 45-minute session with Quest changed. Students were more relaxed, more willing to take risks, more willing to share a laugh with the whole class, and overall more willing to engage in effective and compassionate teamwork. This program speaks to me about the power of drama as part of trauma-informed education. Drama to work on mental health and relationship building really really works!"
